Chaucer Creek Capital was founded in 2009 by Billy McClatchey, a long-time North Carolina resident with an entrepreneurial spirit and decisive intellect.

Prior to launching Chaucer Creek Capital, Billy founded, grew, and successfully exited McClatchey Broadcasting Company, which owned and operated radio stations located across the Carolinas. He also spent many years in the investment banking industry.

Since inception, Chaucer Creek has achieved steady, remarkable growth, despite the challenges of the Great Recession, various local and national economic shifts, and the global pandemic. What began with the acquisition of two apartment communities totaling 246 units has expanded to over 55 communities encompassing nearly 12,000 resident units today.

We currently operate from offices in Raleigh and Charlotte and have investment communities throughout the Carolinas and across the Southeast. We’ve developed and reinvigorated multi-family properties in rapidly growing markets including Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, Charlotte, Winston Salem, Greensboro, and Wilmington. You’ll also find Chaucer Creek investments in Williamsburg, Asheville, Charleston, Columbia and Savannah.
