Founded in 2009 by Billy McClatchey, Chaucer Creek Capital is a private real estate investment company based in Raleigh, North Carolina. Over the course of nearly a decade, Chaucer Creek Capital has established a proven track record of integrity and growth by focusing on the fundamentals of property investment and dedicated asset management, generating a net weighted IRR of in excess of 25% on realized investments and yearly 9%+ yields averaged across five states. Our goal is to ensure that investors gain the highest return from their investment in our properties. With that in mind, we focus on a strategy of acquiring desirable residential real estate investments and are committed to providing high-quality management for each property. 2009 - Chaucer Creek Capital was established by Billy McClatchey
2010 - Chaucer Creek Capital acquires its first two garden-style multifamily communities, Chambers Ridge in Chapel Hill, NC and Beacon Ridge in Greenville, SC. for a combined 246 units.
2011 - Three additional garden-style multifamily communities were acquired; Fox Hollow in High Point, NC, Highland Oaks in Winston Salem, NC, and Hunt's View in Greensboro, NC. for a combined total of 870 units.
2012 - Chaucer Creek Capital aquired four more garden-style multifamily communities; Lexington Farms, Windsor Falls and Sommerset Place in Raleigh, NC and Legacy Century Center in Atlanta, GA. This marks Chaucer Creek's first acquisition outside of the Carolinas.
2013 - Two more garden-style multifamily communities were acquired in 2013. These larger communities include Hampton Courts in Columbia, SC and Olde Raleigh in Raleigh, NC. The total number of combined units grows to 2160 units spread across 11 communities.
2014 - This was a big year for Chaucer Creek Capital, with Six additional garden-style communities acquired that include Brassfield Park in Greensboro, NC, Polo Commons in Columbia, SC, One Norman Square in Cornelius, NC, Anderson Hills in Raleigh, NC, Forest at Biltmore Park in Asheville, NC, and Summerlin Ridge in Winston Salem, NC.
This year, Chaucer Creek also expanded the diversity of its portfolio by acquiring two boutique mid-rise properties; The Edison in Charlotte, NC and Gallery Lofts in downtown Winston Salem, NC.
That same year, Chaucer Creek sold two of their earlier acquisitions; Fox Hollow in High Point, NC and Lexington Farms in Raleigh, NC. The portfolio now consists of 17 communities with 3,411 units.
2015 - 2015 saw another year of exponential growth for Chaucer Creek Capital. Three garden-style communities were added to the portfolio, including Uptown Gardens in Charlotte, NC, Bennington Woods in Cary, NC, and Sweetgrass Landing in Mount Pleasant, SC.
Two brand new garden-style communities were also acquired including The Avenues at Verdier Point in Charleston, SC and The Villages at Pecan Grove in Holly Springs, NC. Park and Drexel, a brand new Class A boutique mid-rise, was also acquired in Charlotte, NC.
Three other new Class A mid-rise developments launched this year as well; Asbury Flats in Charlotte, NC, Mayfaire Flats in Wilmington, NC and Anderson Flats in Raleigh, NC. One property, Legacy Century Center in Atlanta, GA was sold.
2016 - There is no sign of slowing down in 2016. While Highland Oaks in Winston Salem, NC has been jettisoned from the portfolio, Chaucer Creek Capital has acquired two garden-style communities; Reserve at Bridford in Greensboro, NC and Reserve at Biltmore Park in Asheville, NC.
One brand new mid-rise community called Mezzo One in Charlotte, NC and one Class A garden-style community called Verde Vista in Asheville, NC were also acquired this year.
In addition to the four acquisitions, Chaucer Creek Capital has four brand new class A mid-rise developments launching this year; Park and Broad in Savannah, GA, Midwood Station in Charlotte, NC, West End Station and Phase II of Gallery Lofts in Winston Salem, NC. As of 2016, Chaucer Creek Capital's boasts a healthy portfolio of 33 communities with 6,262 units and growing.
2017 was another successful year for Chaucer Creek with the sale of Olde Raleigh Apartments, Sommerset Place and Windsor Falls in Raleigh, NC, Beacon Ridge in Greenville, SC and Hunts View in Greensboro, NC.
Chaucer Creek also purchased three additional Class A garden-style communities including; Weirbridge Village in Asheville, NC, Sterling Manor in Williamsburg, VA and Tryon Park at Rivergate in Charlotte. NC.
Construction started this year on Phase II for Mayfaire Flats in Wilmington, NC and West End Station in Winston Salem, NC both of which will deliver thier first apartments in 2018.
2018 started off successfully with the aquisition of Audubon Place in Asheville, NC. Chaucer Creek also purchased a midrise in downtown Asheville, NC called Beaucatcher Flats and aquired a garden/townhome redevelopment community in downtown Savannah called, The Grove at Ardsley Park.
Chaucer Creek also sold Polo Commons, in Columbia, SC and started development on two new deals, Harper Place and 655 East Bay in Charleston, SC.
2019 started off successfully with the aquisition of Headwaters at Autumn Hall in Wilmington, NC and the purchase of a new midrise in downtown Wilmington, NC called Sawmill Point. Chaucer also aquired a new garden deal in Durham, NC called 54 Station.
Chaucer Creek also sold West End Station, in Winston Salem, NC and Hampton Courts in Columbia, SC. Development commenced this year on two new deals, Woodlands Landing and Flats on Front both located in Wilmington, NC.
2020 was another successful year for Chaucer Creek with the sale of Reserve at Bridford and Brassfield Park in Greensboro, NC, Bennington Woods in Cary, NC, Harper Place in Charleston, SC and Mezzo 1 in Charlotte, NC.
Chaucer Creek also started the development on the following Class A communities; 17 Social in Wilmington, NC, and The Easley in downtown Winston Salem, NC. Two additional buildings were also added to two of our existing assets this year which included Verde Vista in Asheville, NC and 54 Station in Durham, NC.
